Hi guys,
As my first two books are about…well, about me and the life style I’ve changed since I got sick with an unknown autoimmune disease. I will continue to write about it in my blog. Do not expect steps that you should take to get healthy and wealthy in no time, because I don’t really believe in them. I believe we have to work on ourselves, from birth to our departing time, if we want to see any kind of shift in our lives. Now sharing these wise words with you, you‘re surely expecting some wise advice. However, all I have for you today is the true tale about the way I cherish my body today in comparison to my young twenties.
It’s something I’ve noticed is happening to my body and soul as the years of my young – old life go by.
In my twenties before bedtime, it was enough to brush my teeth, wash my face, take a quick shower, put on my pajamas and lay down in bed with zero pillows, not even for my head and just one blanket. Falling asleep instantly.
However nowadays in my forties, I brush my teeth, then my retainer. Yes, now I wear a retainer so that those natural teeth I’ll probably have for few more years before they fall out, look perfect and last as long as possible. By the time I wash my face with some expensive miracle product followed up with tonic, I’m pretty tired and still need to put on my fancy serum and face cream. I pull my face a few times in the direction of my ears hoping it will magically stay that way, but it never does. Why? Finally, I take a shower and I’m nearly done. I don’t even apply the body cream.
My sleeping habits are even more complex. I need earplugs ( because I hear a cat sneaking in the neighbours garden if I don’t ), an eye mask to protect me ( don’t ask me from what, I just need it ), a silicon chest pad ( because I lay on my side and I get multiple wrinkles leaving me looking like an old lady if I don’t ) and a few pillows of course ( one for my head, one under my knee – I had a back problem so now it’s all about prevention ), one between my tits to support better the pad I’m wearing and one just in case I need a Kindle holder.
When I’m finally ready to close my eyes I always remember Mr. Barnaby from Midsomer Murders saying to his wife getting in their bed in similar gear wearing his pajamas ( I just wear an old T-shirt and shorts ):
“Joyce, are you there underneath all this? I don’t even recognise you anymore. Do you really have to wear my pajamas and that mask?”
And Joyce doesn’t even hear him because of the earplugs. That’s me plus.
The conclusion from this story is not that I’m getting old (though, of course, I am) but that I could have done better before. Maybe use a pillow for my head or put some cream on my face or eat and drink better and go to bed and wake up earlier which would help make my kidneys stronger and ultimately, me stronger. These are the things you can learn about in my two books Luna Tree and In pursuit of Change. Anyway, our life is a sequence of rituals and we should pick them well and early in life, so we don’t have to make an extra effort later when it is harder to make changes like I do now. Pick your rituals wisely and good night!
Its like you read my mind! You appear to grasp so much approximately this, like you wrote the
ebook in it or something. I feel that you can do with some p.c.
to force the message house a bit, however other than that,
that is magnificent blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
I have been surfing online more than 2 hours today,
yet I never found any interesting article like
yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the
internet will be much more useful than ever before.
I could not resist commenting. Well written!
